Description:A postcard view of the Vicarage and on the right a glimpse of St. Chad’s Church tower in Seighford. In later years the Vicarage was demolished and the area redeveloped with private housing.
St. Chad's Church dates from the Norman period, although the west tower was rebuilt in local brick in the seventeenth century after the original tower collapsed. Evidence of Norman architecture can still be seen in the chancel arch and the north arcade. Inside the church can be found a church warden's chest, dated 1610, a Jacobean pulpit, and the alabaster tomb of William Bowyer (died 1593). The south window contains fifteenth century stained glass.
This postcard was posted and franked on 2 July 1907 in Seighford and later in Stafford on the same date. It was sent to an address in Liverpool.
