Description:A postcard view of The Broadmore, Stowe by Chartley. A croquet lawn and tennis court can be seen in the foreground.

Also known as Broadmoor, by 1906 this house was owned by Arthur Thomas Radcliffe (1856-1937), a Rochdale woollen manufacturer. He was a Justice of the Peace for Staffordshire and also had homes in Cheltenham and Rochdale. The house and other farms and cottages on the estate were sold after the death of his widow Annie in November 1947.

This postcard was photographed and published by Alfred McCann of High Street, Uttoxeter. It was posted on 16 September 1911 and sent to an address in Penzance.
