Description:A view taken in Market Square looking towards Anson Street. In the centre is Rugeley Town Hall and the Market Hall which were built on the site of the Shoulder of Mutton Inn. The Town Hall and Market Hall were built in 1878-79, the architect was W. Tadman Foulkes and they were demolished during 1978 apart from the clock tower. The Market Hall's foundation stone was laid on 26 June 1878 by Lord Lichfield.

On the right is a shop which was built in the mid-19th century for Harris & Sons Ironmongers and later known as George Blagg's Ironmongers. In later years this area became pedestrianised, however, most of the buildings in this scene remain (May 2019) although over the years their ground floors have changed use on several occasions.
