Description:Union system of brewing, Marston's Brewery. J. Marston & Son were founded in 1834. Initially based at the Horninglow Brewery in Burton-upon-Trent, the company moved to its current site at the Albion Brewery on Shobnall Road in 1898, when it merged with John Thompson & Son Ltd. In 1905 it merged with Sydney Evershed to become Marston, Thompson & Evershed. In 1999 the brewery was purchased by Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries.

Marston's started using the Burton Union system of brewing in 1898. This system of brewing was invented in the 1830s and features inter-connected casks and a recirculating fermentation system. The Burton Union system is still used to brew Marson's Pedigree.
