Description:The steam locomotive "Cannock Wood" is pulling a load of flat trucks loaded with mine tubs. Coal would have been carried in this way from the mine to a washery at a different location. The driver stands on the footplate to have his picture taken.

"Cannock Wood" was built for the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway in 1877, the Cannock and Rugeley Colliery buying it from them in 1927. The loco was bought for preservation in the 1960's and still exists today.
