Description:A view from the tow path on the Trent and Mersey Canal. St. Michael and All Angels was built on the site of an Anglo-Saxon church. The present church was built in the late fourteenth century, but was altered and restored between 1852 and 1856. Note the iron railings around the tomb - long gone. Inside the church are monuments to the Anson and Wolseley families. The east window of the church is a memorial to Thomas, first Earl of Lichfield (1795 - 1854).
