Date:1958

Description:During the war the Ministry of Supply allocated buses to where they were needed most since supplies were greatly diminished. Unfortunately, the Ministry took no notice of the types of buses already operating in fleets and so PMT received a number of Bristols, a type not represented in the fleet. In 1947 an exchange of buses was arranged with the North Western Road Car Co of Stockport who had received Daimlers and Guys, Daimlers in particular not fitting their fleet profile. Seen in Stoke in 1954 is L234 ( Registration BJA 86) a utility Brush bodied Daimler CWG5.

The Red Lion public House in the background stood on Church Street and was dismantled in the early 1970s and the façade re-erected at the Tramway Museum in Crich, Derbyshire. On the left, behind the buses is the Old Cemetery
