Description:This competition was organised by Derbyshire Agricultural Institute following a series of classes. Mr G.L. Maw of Derbyshire Agricultural Institute had organised classes at Alsop en le Dale, Parwich and Brassington just prior to this event to try and ensure that dry-stone walling skills survived in the Peak District. The instructors were Mr Albert Redfern of Wetton, Staffordshire and Mr S. Handley. In the background can be seen Brassington School and village.

There were 18 competitors from Derbyshire and Staffordshire who were judged by Mr C. Webster of Bellsdon Moor, Brassington and Alderman G.W. Beswick of Buxton. Richard ‘Dick’ Bold of Alstonefield was the winner of the Senior competition and F. Edge of Alsop en le Dale won the Junior competition (under 20s).
