Description:The church was restored in 1863-4 by George Gilbert Scott Junior, with Robert Edgar as his architect. Many of the internal features are early examples of work by William Morris & Co., (Morris was a friend of Thomas Wardle, the churchwarden). The stained glass by Morris, including the windows in the north aisle, date from between 1864-69 and show a devlopment towards a mature style. Other members of the company whose work can be seen are Ford Madox Brown who designed the small figures in the chancel, and Burne-Jones (the three large angels in the south aisle south). As well as the church, George Gilbert Scott Junior also designed the lychgate, and the adjacent school and library.
