Description:This tannery business was started around 1844 by a Mr Booth and carried on by his son Thomas Henry for many years afterwards. In 1879 the tannery was enlarged to accommodate new machinery, but in 1887 a terrible fire destroyed most of the buildings. Mr T.H. Booth had the tannery rebuilt, and purchased new equipment, hopefully making the operations safer.
By 2003 the tanyard had become Findlow's builder's yard, while the houses on the right of the picture were still there.
