Description:A postcard view of Market Square looking towards Gaolgate Street. On the corner of the Square is Mummery's jewellers and opticians shop, since demolished and the site now (2018) occupied by Santander Bank. To the right is the Jubilee Fountain, erected in 1887 to mark Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee. On the immediate left is the Guildhall, built in 1858. It was demolished along with the fountain in 1934 as part of the Borough Council's plans to redevelop the Market Square.
