Description:One of the locomaotives which operated on the 'Tackeroo' on Cannock Chase during World War 1. The rolling stock for these locomotives tended to be loaned from local colliery companies. Pictured is "Blackcock" and another one used was "Stafford". "Blackcock" is pictured here after the War when it had gone back to colliery work.

Workers used to ride in the open trucks to work but they were the only passengers carried as the troops had to march to the Camps. The exact number of locomotives used is not known but others that were there included "Messenger", an 060 saddle-tank which was loaned from West Cannock Colliery Co. at Hednesford in 1915. Another was War Dept. No.92 Avonside 060 saddle-tank which came to Cannock Chase new, after just being built.
