Description:Taken in 1980 by Jake Whitehouse, this photograph shows the location of the YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association) Hut which was between the White House and Rifle Range corner. Just down from here was also the CEMS (Church of England's Men's Society) Hut. B oth were provided by the groups or a sole benefactor to enable the troops to socialize in a Christian environment. Also on the Camp were a couple of huts provided by the Methodists. They were staffed by volunteers and provided tea and cakes and a place to read the newspaper and write home to their loved ones. Between where these two huts stood can still be found Nos. 3 & 4 "Destructors" which were a means of burning off unwanted rubbish they could not recycle.
