Description:A panoramic view of the sides Battalion Lines 17 to 19 with No.18's Regimental Institute being the large building centre right. An early conifer plantation on the right shows that there were trees on the Chase before the formation of the Forestry Commission after the War. The military railway is running left to right in the foreground but not visible due to the terrain and. The white "squares" with dividing lines between them appear to be assembly and training areas for the recruits.
