Description:YMCA Hut No.2 at Rugeley Camp. Further down the road is the Church Army Hut. Religious groups or sometimes a single local benefactor would sponsor these buildings in order to give comfort to the soldiers who were far from home. Rugeley Camp also had at least two Wesleyan huts according to the detailed map. Just past the Church Army Hut is Rifle Range Corner and on the opposite side of the road ran the military railway. Opposite the YMCA was the Parade Ground of Battalion Line No. 9.
Still surviving today, between the two religious huts is a virtually intact "Destructor" which was one of the areas provided for burning off unwanted refuse that could not be recycled. They consisted of a concrete pad and sides with an open front, no doubt this was to try and reduce the risk of fire on the open heath land nearby.
