Description:A heavily re-touched postcard view of Penkridge Bank Road. Interestingly, the caption has been censored by removing the location of the military camp. Of the many hundreds of thousands of postcards that must have been in circulation it was possibly too late to try and hide its location. However, the threat of the Zeppelin airships raiding the country perhaps raised fears. A local Parish Magazine requested that the church bells and those of the nearby stately homes should ring three times, pause and continue for five minutes if a Zeppelin was seen. This was the fear that struck the public in the new era of "modern" warfare.

Twenty years later when a military camp was set up at RAF Hednesford not half a mile away, recruits were not permitted to send home postcards of their Camp for fear of espionage and to try to keep its location secret.
