Description:Acrylic on canvas, unframed. 'Somme 1st July', by Andy Farr (1962-). A recreation of still image from 'The Battle of the Somme' 1916 film showing a soldier carrying a fallen comrade on his shoulders. Two men in contemporary dress have been superimposed over the original figures. Signed bottom left 'Andy Farr/2016'. Commissioned as part of 'Lost Generation' World War I exhibition at Shire Hall Gallery, Stafford 10 Sept to 29 Oct 2016.
