Description:Holding a miniature cup in one hand and clutching the winner’s cup in the other is two year old Lynette Georgina Swift, after she had been judged to be the best baby in the show, organised by the Stafford and Stone Co-operative Society’s Education Committee on Saturday 27 July.

Pictured centre is proud mother Mrs R G Swift of New Garden Street, Stafford, who said afterwards Lynette was two on Saturday (the day of the competition) and that it was a lovely birthday present with Lynette being first in the class for babies between 18 months and 2 years old. There were 95 entries for the show, 35 more than last year. The judges were Dr C Ross and Dr R Taylor. The prizes were presented by Mr L A Vaughan, Chairman of the Co-operative Education Committee.

Prize winners were as follows:

Birth to 6 months: 1, Jayne Lynne Hill of Malcolm Road; 2, Karen Janice Skerrett of Churchill Way; 3, Robert Anthony Stanley of St. Peters Gardens.

6 to 12 months: 1, Christine Stewart of Hatherton Street; 2, Yvonne Gillian Cull of Corporation Street; 3, Valerie Hoctor of Oxford Gardens.

12 to 18 months: 1, David Robert Charlesworth of Reason Road; 2, Karen Moore of Sandon Road; 3, Marion Embrey of Hinton Close.

18 months to 2 years: 1, Lynette Georgina Swift of New Garden Street; 2, Adrian David Evans of Stone Road; 3, Lynda Fay Hubble of Trenchard Avenue.
