Description:View of Stafford Railway Station and car park from the Newport Road railway bridge. The Grand Junction railway line opened in July 1837. Within the next twelve years lines had opened from Stafford to Wellington and, via Lichfield to Rugby. The suburb of Castletown, en route to Doxey, was built to accommodate the railway workers. The first station was built in 1837, but the makeshift building was replaced in the early 1840s. The building pictured is the fourth station, constructed in 1962.
