Description:A photograph postcard of Miss A K Clayton, Headmistress of Talbot Street Girls School in Rugeley.

Talbot Street Girls School was built in 1892. It was enlarged in 1898 and in 1913, and provided for 300 girls. The School later became Rugeley Church of England Voluntary Primary School for Infants. In later years the building was used as offices.

This view was taken by ‘Vandyke’, Castleberg Studio, Stafford. Castleberg, 134 Newport Road (formerly 51 Newport Road) was the studio and home of a number of Stafford photographers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These were: David Brigham, from about 1870 to 1882; David Bordley, from 1892 to 1898; Frederick Stoate, from 1899 to 1906; John Vandyke, from 1908 to 1914; Paul Wise (formerly Weiss) from 1914 to 1928.
