Description:A postcard view of Horns Pool. The Pool fed by the diverted Rising Brook into Slitting Mill Dutton's Pool (previously known as Slitting Mill Pool) and later became more commonly known as Horns Pool.

Water from the Pool is believed to have powered (via a water wheel) a steel rod slitting mill located nearby. The Pool is thought to be late 18th century in origin. In 2011 Stoke-on-Trent Museum Archaeological Society performed a limited archaeological exaction in the area below the outlet waterfall and discovered slag and a brick floor deep below the surface.
