Description:Westcliffe Hospital was on Turnhurst Road, just north of Great Chell. The hospital was built in 1894 by the Wolstanton and Burslem Union (of which Tunstall was a part) as an addition to its existing adjoining workhouse. The neighbouring workhouse building was demolished in 1993, the hospital building in the photograph lasted into the present century. The site is now a retirement village.
