Description:Rookery Colliery was Sunk in 1828 by John Wedgwood. The colliery worked a ten foot coal seam, but was abandoned around 1854 when the nearby Diglake Colliery closed. When the Diglake pumps ceased, the Rookery was flooded.

Standing in front of the pit head are: S. Platt, Makepeace, J. Dale, J. Taylor (standing by the coal wagon).
