Description:A view of the Broadway Cinema on Uttoxeter Road, Meir. Art-deco in style, the cinema opened in 1936. It could seat over 1000 filmgoers and was on the Broadway Roundabout on Sandon Road. The site was close to the present day Meir Interchange, immediately above the A50 Meir Tunnel. The block of flats to the right still stands at the corner of Broadway and Uttoxeter Road.

This week's film was "The Interns", released in 1962, a story of young doctors.
