Description:Post card view of the ornamental lake and and gardens at Walsall Arboretum. The Arboretum was officially opened by Lady Hatherton on Saturday, 4th May 1874. The park included two lakes, two lodges, a boathouse, bandstand, several summerhouses, a tree lined promenade, space for dancing, a flagpole, croquet lawns and a cricket ground. The pool formed from worked-out limestone diggings which naturally flooded when pumping ceased.
