Date:4th of September 1939

Description:A group of evacuees from Longsight, Manchester arriving at Caverswall School at the start of the Second World War. In the foreground are Alan and Nora Garside. Alan, then aged 7, was billeted with the Ellis family on Park Hall Avenue, Weston Coyney. His older sister Nora was billeted next door but one. Alan returned to his family in Manchester in August 1942.
