Description:Prestige ornamentor Kevin Dodd at the Wedgwood factory, applying bas reliefs to a Jasper copy of the Portland Vase, the Wedgwood 'icon'.
It is not known where and when the Portland Vase was discovered, but it is first recorded in Italy in 1601. By 1786 the vase belonged to the third Duke of Portland, who lent it to Josiah Wedgwood; it became famous after Wedgwood made several copies of it. The vase is now in the collection of the British Museum, London.
