Date:10th of September 1938

Description:The present Wedgwood factory was built 1938 - 1940 on the Barlaston estate, purchased from the Broughton-Adderley family in 1936. The move from Etruria only took place in 1950, due to the intervention of the Second World War.

For the laying of the foundation stone eight 'Etruscan' veterans were chosen to place Black Basalt pots in the foundation stone casket. Each veteran inscribed their pot with his or her name and the date.

Here Louisa Coates places her commemorative pot in the casket.
