Description:Cllr. Margaret Kennedy, Town Mayor of Stone, at the opening of the Bass Worthington distribution depot on Stafford Road.

In 1974, following local government reorganisation, Stone Urban and Rural District Councils amalgamated with Stafford Borough Council. As part of this a Town Council was formed in Stone with a Town Mayor to act as its Chairman. Cllr. Margaret Kennedy was the first person to hold the office of Town Mayor.
