Description:Pictured is an area that was known as the “Screens”, it was a space under the Great Hall Gallery. On the left the arch in the Screen linen-fold panelling led into the Great Hall. On the right the stone arches connected with the vestibule of the east front entrance door at Beaudesert. The beam and raftered ceiling are thought to be from around Henry VIII’s time, but added to the “Screens” during the renovations after the 1909 fire. The old oak centre beam (from left to right) supported the Great Hall Gallery above; the beam had a running vine pattern carved along it.
