Description:Edwardian lady's wore blouses which were quite full at the front and this is emphasized in this blouse with the frilly lace which runs along the low neckline.
The blouse is not boned and has many fastenings and although it looks quite loose when the top is fastened is reveals that the waist must have been quite tiny. It would have been worn with an 'S' shaped corset, which drew attention to the bust and pushed the hips backwards.
This would have been worn for eveningwear as it is quite elaborate, and the sleeves are shorter ending at the elbow.

Unfortunately this bodice is in poor condition, as the silk and lace have deteriorated, creating holes and tears in the bodice.
