Description:Riley's shoe factory was established by Frederick Riley in 1881 on Gaol Square. Five workers were employed and 300 to 400 pairs of shoes were produced each week.

In 1885 Riley's moved to larger premises in Mount Street; the company moved again in 1892, this time to a factory in St. Patrick's Place.

In the clicking department various shoe parts were cut from leather. These were then sent to the closing department to be bonded together to form shoe uppers.
