Description:Riley's shoe factory was established by Frederick Riley in 1881 on Gaol Square. Five workers were employed and 300 to 400 pairs of shoes were produced each week. In 1885 Riley's moved to larger premises in Mount Street; the company moved again in 1892, this time to a factory in St. Patrick's Place. In the closing department various shapes of leather were sewn or glued together to form shoe uppers.
