Description:The church of St. Mary and St. Luke, Shareshill in an idyllic rural setting.

This photograph is almost identical to one submitted as an entry into a photographic competition. The Express & Star newspaper of 30 June 1927 published a very similar photograph as 'Prize Picture in Village Competion':
"This artistic photographic study of Shareshill, Staffordshire is the work of Mr H.A. Cartwright of 3, Moat Street, Willenhall, which was awarded first prize of £1 in the the last week ... of the 'Village Competion' for amateur photographers, also wins the £10 prize for the best of all the photographs sent in ... The judges were unanimous in considering Mr Cartwright's photograph was outstanding among the hundreds submitted."

This was probably taken from the present St. Mary's Close area. The Church is Grade II listed, consisting of a Georgian nave and chancel attached to a 13th century tower.
