Description:Stone Town Band taking a break to pose for the photographer. Among those in the picture are Eric Williams and his brother George Williams.

The Stone Town Band was created in 1954 after the disbanding of the Stone Volunteers military band, which had been active in the town since the early part of the century. Standing in the centre is Mr Ted Dixon, the founder of the Band who died in 1983.

Today, the Band is in great demand to play at civic parades, social events and concerts in many different venues primarily around Stone town, but also around Staffordshire. The most popular performances are the annual Christmas Parties and Summer Concerts for the elderly residents in the town. The Band receives support from Stone Town Council and income is generated from its performances to cover expenses for its charitable activities.
