Description:This wedding dress was worn by Winnifred Mary Leeke (nee Robinson). She was married in Stone Roman Catholic Church in around 1909.
It is made of cream silk and has an inner hem lining specially made to help keep the dirt from the road reaching the actual wedding garment. It has a high collar and the bodice and sleeves are edged with lace.
The long sash has been handsewn with silver thread.
This dress would probably been worn with a structured undergarnment such as a 'S' shaped corset, which would have pushed the waist forward and the hips back.
