Description:Tom Simpson is the man sitting down. This photograph was taken in France, during the First World War. Tom was in the Army Veterinary Corps, and was connected to the West Riding of Yorkshire Regiment.


Tom originated in the Burslem area where he had a butchers shop in Nile Street Burslem before being called up. He would buy the fat cattle in Newcastle Market & walk them back to the Abbotoir in Nile Street, with the help of Drovers. He returned from the war in 1918 to take up a position in Boyce Adams in the butchers shop in Hanley. He later lived at 59 Dimsdale Parade Wolstanton Staffordshire.
