Description:Residents of Shaw Place, a cul-de-sac off Buxton Road, pictured celebrating Victory in Europe Day in 1945. The houses were built in the 1920s.

In the left hand group, standing, are Joyce Harding (2nd from left) and Margaret 'Peggy' Davies (4th from left, wearing a white blouse).

Seated, far left, is Mrs Elsie Nicholls (nee Brooks) who lived at no. 2, Shaw Place. She had a hairdressers at Ball Haye Green and her husband Harry ran a shoe shop on St. Edward Street.
