Description:Mr and Mrs Allen were licensees of the Jolly Crafts public house on Chapel Street from 1914 until Mr Allen's death in 1917.

Pictured are Edwin Allen (1888-1918), his wife Annie (nee Emmanuel), and their children Annie Allen (born 1913) and James Kitchener Allen (born 1914). From 1916 Edwin served in the Royal Garrison Artillery, latterly as a lance-bombardier in 359th Siege Battery. He died on 4 April 1918 from shell wounds received the previous day near Ypres.
