Description:George Loveday was born in 1860 at Shirburn, Oxfordshire. He was the son of David Loveday, shepherd to Lord Macclesfield at Shirburn. By 1881 George was working as a footman in the household of Francis Bradshaw Esq. of Barton Blount, Derbyshire. By 1891 he had worked his way up to the position of Butler to George C. Raphael in Egham Surrey. His next move was to Shugborough 1891-1898 to take up the position of Butler to The Earl of Lichfield. His wife Eliza worked in the laundry. In 1901 he was residing in London with the Anson family, whilst his wife Eliza and four daughters were living in Great Haywood. By 1911 he was butler for the Levett family at Milford Hall, near Stafford. He stayed in service until retirement. He died on 6 July 1931 and is buried in St. Stephen's Churchyard, Great Haywood along with his wife Eliza.
