Description:Mrs H.M.Shaw's husband was the old Carnival King Ben Shaw. She is standing outside her shop in Carter Street which no longer stands. She was very well known in Uttoxeter and sold almost everything, records, sheet music, balsa wood for making model aircraft, leather boot laces and cigarettes. She also used to charge the glass accumulators that people used to power their radios. The farmers came to market on a Wednesday, dropped them off, and picked them up the following Wednesday.
