Description:The astronomical instruments and the "Romsey" type observatory are reproductions of Victorian originals used for teaching purposes. The observatory was opened in June 2006 by Lembit Opik and closed in 1910. Some of the equipment was relocated to Cannock Civic Observatory.
On the left is Malcolm Astley and on the right is Mr John Armitage who was responsible for the project.
Pendrell Hall was built in 1870 and originally called Pendryl Hall. The Gaskells moved to Pendrell Hall from The Birches in 1910 and remodelled the house and added the lodge. The Hall was purchased by Staffordshire County Council in 1955 and was used as a residential college until its closure in 2010.
