Description:Group photograph of staff and probationary constables at Friars Terrace in Stafford.

Back row: P.Cs. Bishop, Hickey, De La Cour, Pugh, Anderson, unknown, Westwood, unknown.

Centre row: P.Cs. Adams, unknown, Crisp, Wright (later to become Deputy Chief Constable), Bennett, Howes, Connor, Rogers, Jones.

Front row: P.Cs. Morris, Buckle, Burton, Sergeant Wright (father of Mary Wright who later became Woman Superintendent ) Superintendent W. Cooper, Inspector Betts, P.Cs. Beeston, Cook, Timmins.

The original police barracks were at the back of the Guildhall on Market Square. These were demolished in 1867 to make way for the covered market. The military barracks on Friar's Terrace became vacant in 1882, later the police moved in.
