Description:The Assistant teacher is Mrs Salt who is a Certified Teacher but not paid as one and commenced at the school in 1895.

Miss Eleanor Phillips apointed temporary assistant teacher August 1903- Christmas 1903.

Weather bad all winter. The Attendance Officer rarely comes near the school not oftener than once in two months on an average, and when he does come does but little to improve attendance. Page 1

Mr Shoebotham, a former manager of the school was buried today March 15, 1917. Page 2
April 2nd 1917 start of new Educational Year. Blizzard raging, snowdrifts so deep only five children came. No school. Page 3
School holidays to be adjusted because of war. Summer holidays to be of six weeks duration to be divided as far as possible between hay harvest (month) and fortnight for potato picking and fruit gathering. Page 3
Four children from Leigh named Greensmith have left to go to Leigh School. Frederick Arnold has gone to live at Great Gate April 20. Page 4

The Rector visted the school on Monday and announced a holiday for Friday 22 in honour of the Knighthood of the Director of Education for the County now Sir Graham Balfour. Page 6
The weather has been very dry and sunny this week and most people have commenced hay making but the glass is falling rapidly (the barometer) and there are today many signs of rain. July 6, 1917 Page 6.

Bernard Bailey returned to school after living at Wetley Rocks. November 23 1917. Pages 11-12.
Herbert Evans, whose brother has been called up, has been granted exemption to help his father, a farmer. Page 12.
John Stevenson, farmer's son exempted from attendance at school. He has been engaged in removing turnips from the field. November 30, 1917. Page 12.
William Hy Fairbanks (under 5) admitted December 7 1917. Page 12.
Mrs Smith arranged everything for a cookery class December 21 1917. Page 13
Snow only about a dozen children attended mainly from village. Because their feet were so wet they were sent home and school closed. January 18, 1918.
Mrs. Salt reaches age of 65 February 22 1918. Her engagement as a teacher ceased automatically last night. Page 15.
The Head Teacher reaches 65 on Monday next and his engagement ceases on Sunday. Owing to lack of teachers on account of the War present teachers should continue for a few months. Mrs Salt because of ill health refuses. Page 15.
John Stevenson, 12, and Olive Brunt, 13, granted exemption for farm work. March 1st 1918. Page 16.
Mr Salt concluded his work at Checkley after 37 years on March 27 1918. Page 17.
