Description:The White Lion Inn was built on the site of the medieval St. John's Hospital and Chapel on Lichfield Road; the rear structure of the inn included stonework from the old chapel. On the right is the eighteenth century lock-up, used to temporarily detain local drunks and vagrants.

Both buildings were demolished to make way for the Queensway ring road in the 1976; the lock-up was re-erected nearby.
