Description:The whole of 1436 Squadron ATC pictured around the time of their formation in 1941, the first to be formed in Stone.

The aim of the Air Training Corps was to prepare cadets for service in the Royal Airforce or the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy.

The Stone Air Defence Cadet Corps (later the A.T.C.) was founded in May 1941, with the help of Squadron-Leader H.C. Cooksey. Stone Senior Council School was used as a centre, but the A.T.C. moved to new premises in 1966.
