Description:The old village pump at Walton on the Hill. The photograph was taken in 1993 by Philip Husselbee. His mother Laura Husselbee, nee Dutton, remembered playing around it as a child in the early 1900s. The pump was buried by soil but was excavated as part of the tidying up operation for the Best Kept Village bid in 1983.

In 1983 while tidying up the village for the Best Kept Village Competition some Walton residents started to dig out a bank of soil and rubble which for decades had hidden all but the head of the old pump. In the end they had to dig out and remove over ten tons of soil and rubble from the bank to expose the full height of the old pump and its surroundings.
