Description:An iron oatcake slice used when making Staffordshire oatcakes, collected from Wolfdale Farm, Rushton Spencer, north Staffordshire.

They were baked once or twice a week on a special built-in bakestone in the back kitchen. The leaven was mixed in an old bucket and dropped onto the bakestone with a cup. The edges were then lifted up with the slice held in the right hand. Also using a slice, the oatcake was then levered onto a wooden bread-bladed implement held in the left hand, and then turned over. The process was repeated.
