Date:August 1987

Description:On 23 August 1987 torrential rain combined with the Scotch Brook culvert being blocked with rubbish led to Stone town centre being flooded. This view shows flood water beginning to subside at the lower end of the High Street.

Karen Thomas remembers,

The rain came down on August 22nd my wedding day, weather was gorgeous in the morning heavens opened early afternoon and just pelted down. Only on the Sunday did I find out how much damage had been caused.
