Description:Clifford Gaskin's working life with John Joule & Sons Ltd. started as an apprentice cooper in 1936 in the days when beer was delivered in wooden barrels. He was later Head Cooper before becoming Tank Beer Department manager. Developed in the 1960s, 'tank beer' was a new method of distributing beer to larger customers in bulk road tankers. After 1974 he worked in Burton upon Trent for Bass Charrington after they had acquired Joules and brewing ceased in Stone. He is pictured here in the Cooperage Yard on Newcastle Street, now the site of the Crown and Anchor car park.
